Remember - weather can be very changeable and it is important to be fully prepared.  Depending on the time of year, but as a general rule, you will require:

  • Walking boots – strong and sturdy
  • Light walking trousers – not jeans, they soak up water and are difficult to dry out
  • Rucksack to carry your belongings
  • Waterproof jacket and over trousers
  • Water bottle – drink plenty of water – not fizzy drinks
  • Sun hat, sun cream, sun glasses
  • Personal first aid requirements. We recommend you seek medical advice from your GP before embarking on any physical exercise.
  • Food and a drink
  • Don't forget your camera – to take away your walking experience!

Health & Safety

Your safety and welfare is Rural Footprints’ chief priority.

It is your responsibility to wear suitable stout walking footwear; have a full set of waterproofs, warm clothing and to take sufficient food & drink for the distance of the walk. If these requirements are not complied with, the walk may be postponed or cancelled.

Walking is normally a low-risk activity, however, you should be aware that risks can still exist and accidents may still occur. Walking outdoors means you will come across rough or steep ground, stream-crossings, mud, slippery rocks, animals, bad weather and busy roads. As individuals, you are responsible for your own actions and safety when confronted with such hazards. Care must be taken at all times.

We reserve the right to cancel a walk in the case of guide illness or any other circumstances beyond our control. In the case of us cancelling the tour a full refund of any monies paid to us will be made. We reserve the right to refuse to take anyone on a walk who is, or who appears to be, under the influence of alcohol, or anyone whose behaviour is detrimental to the enjoyment of other participants. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
