The Lune Valley is an undiscovered gem of northern England, Lancashire and represents one of the finest corners of our 'green and pleasant land.' Our walks are designed to suit your pace, rated to help you choose one right for your level of competence.

We can provide tailor made walks to suit your requirements. Walks can be as easy or as difficult as you like, perhaps in an unfamiliar area you want to explore or you may choose from the selection below:

Lune Valley – a series of short walks to choose from in unspoilt countryside around the river Lune and surrounding areas, perhaps stopping for a cup of tea along the way.

Barbon Stride – stroll along gentle footpaths in the picturesque area of Barbondale, passing through woodland following the beck through the Barbon Manor estate, home of the legendary hill climb. Leaving the valley climb up and around the summit of Brownthwaite, taking in the fabulous landscape of the Lakeland Fells and out to the coast. Our trail finally takes us through unassuming farmsteads in the lush green countryside before reaching Barbon village again.

Lowgill Fells Wander – This walk starts south of High Bentham; its breathtaking scenery is some of the most undiscovered in Lancashire. A network of footpaths takes us through several sheep farms, past Tatham Fells church and into the hamlet of Lowgill. This walk boasts some stunning views across the valley, it’s definitely worth the effort!

Arkholme Amble – The start of the walk follows the river Lune, until we reach Arkholme village via rolling hills and sticky footpaths. We pass the Tudor gothic mansion of Storrs Hall before heading back into Gressingham. There are super views across the Lune Valley and over to Ingleborough!

Dentdale – This is a breathtaking walk with spectacular views incorporating the cobbled streets of Dent. A few steep inclines and descents, passing the river Dee and part of the Dales Way footpath. If its peace and quiet you’re after, steeped in history, Dent has it all.

Pub walks – join us for a walk in fabulous countryside with a pub lunch either during or at the end.  Please note Rural Footprints does not condone drink driving and adequate transport must be arranged, should you wish to sample the local ales.

Singles walks – meet up with like-minded folk in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, with time to chat and mingle with those in the group. We’re not promising you’ll find Mr or Mrs Right, and we’re not a dating agency, but you should meet some new and interesting people!

boot7 Being close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Rural Footprints also offer guided walks to the summits of each of the Three Peaks, these being, Penyghent - 694m (2278ft) high, Whernside - 736m (2416ft) high and Ingleborough - 723m (2372ft) high. These are difficult walks, with scrambles on some of the ascents and descents, reasonable fitness is required. They are between 8 and 10 miles each, approximate timings for each walk is around 5 hours. 5 hrs 10:30 hrs
